Biography

Andrew Rea also known as “Binging with Babish” is an American film producer and a YouTuber. He was born on September 2nd, 1987 in Rochester, NY, USA. He currently lives in Harlem, New York.

Andrew graduated on the Hofstra University and got his Bachelor of Arts in Film and Production degree back in 2009. Year later he started working for “Switch FX” as a digital effects expert.

Although he created YouTube channel in 2006, first content was posted in February of 2016. Andrew focused his channel content around the idea to recreate food and dishes from famous movies. Idea proved successful as he managed to get more than 5 million subscribers in around 3 years.

His channel name was inspired by Oliver Babish, a character in TV series  “The West Wing”.

Beside main channel “Binging with Babish” Andrew began working on two related channels “Basics with Babish” and “Being with Babish”.

Andrew released one written cookbook:

Kitchen Equipment

Knives

“Binging with Babish” uses the following tree knives: Wusthof Ikon 8” chef’s knife, Wusthof Pro 8, chef’s knife and Dexter-Russel 8” bread knife.

Cutting Boards

We saw two cutting boards in use on his videos: John Boos 1.5” butchering cutting board and OXO utility cutting board.

Cookware and Bakeware

“Binging with Babish” has large number of dishes in use. Here is some we recognized: All Clad D3 pans and pots set, T-Fal C515SC pans and pots set, Lodge cast iron skillet, Le Creuset dutch oven, Le Creuset Heritage Stoneware pan, Estilo stainless steel mixing bowls and OXO plastic mixing bowls.

In “Binging with Babish” videos we noticed following appliances: KitchenAid stand mixer, Cuisinart 14-Cup food processor, Vitamix 5200 blender, T-Fal deep fryer, Cuisinart CPC-600 electric pressure cooker, Capresso 505.01 coffee grinder (which he often uses for grinding spices), Anova Culinary precision cooker and INDUXPERT induction cooktop.

Camera and Lens

“Binging with Babish” uses Sony A7SII mirrorless camera for recording videos. He has Carl Zeis 35 mm F2.8 prime lens with the Sony.

Microphone

Andrew Rea uses, YouTubers favorite, Blue Yeti microphone for recording sounds.

Lighting

“Binging with Babish” uses Aputure Light Storm LS 1S 1536 light which has wireless remote. With it, he uses Aputure softbox kit.

Tripod

Although we can see his tripod and video head in a couple of videos, we couldn’t figure exact brand and model.

Computer and Editing Software

It is unknown what computer does Andrew use, but we know that he uses Windows 10 operating system and Adobe Premiere for video editing.

Other gear

We found that “Binging with Babish” uses some uncommon gear for a YouTuber, hence we didn’t know how to categorize it properly. He has Ninja Flame external 4k video recorder and a DJI Mavic PRO Drone

According to SocialBlade web site, “Binging with Babish” channel earns anywhere between $12.4K and $197.9K monthly.

Since that is very broad estimation, after careful examination, we at EquipmentNerd estimated that “Binging with Babish” earns somewhere around $50.000 per month from YouTube ads, not considering direct sponsorships.
