Dulce was born in Zacapu, Michoacán, México. She has older sister Cynthia Lizbeth, and younger sisters Ivette Paulina and Wendy Teresita. In 1993 the whole family illegally emigrated to the USA. They eventually settled in Oxnard, 60 miles (97 km) west of downtown Los Angeles. She said that they lived in a small trailer park, but regardless of that, she had a happy childhood.

Growing up she always wanted to be so many different things, but she always loved to sing and act. She also loved gymnastics. Her parents could afford her classes, so she practiced in her back yard. Dulce also wanted to be a teacher, doctor, and businesswoman.

In high school, she has run into a bad company. Her grades were bad, she avoided classes, she felt ugly and started smoking pot, and she even thought about suicide. After high school, she joined the U.S. Army. In the beginning, Dulce was based in Fort Jackson, South Carolina. Then she moved to Aberdeen Proving Ground. She spent 13 weeks in Maryland before she was stationed in Fort Hood, Texas.

Tree months later she went to Iraq where she spent 15 months. Dulce stayed in Bagdad from 2006 to 2008. After three years of active duty, she moved to Los Angeles.

In 2008, she launched her YouTube channel and started creating videos. To wake up the feminine side of her personality she created makeup tutorials, do-it-yourself videos, cosmetics reviews, skincare routines e.t.c. In August 2009, Dulce appeared as a „Beauty Smartie“ in Seventeen Magazine, and as she said, that moment changed her life.

Her YouTube channel became enormously popular. In April 2013, it reached 1 million subscribers. Dulce started her company named „Dulce Candy, Inc“, and she collaborates with famous cosmetics brands, such as „L’Oreal“, „Olay“, „Macy’s“, „Cover Girl“ e.t.c.

Dulce wrote a book titled „The Sweet Life“ which is very popular, not only in America but worldwide.

Her followers on YouTube and other social networks had a chance to meet her husband Jesse Ruiz. They met in Iraque and married in January 2011. The same year Dulce gave birth to their son Izek.
