Lauren Kobayashi Riihimaki is a Canadian YouTuber, fashion designer, DIY and lifestyle guru whose YouTube channel titled „LaurDIY“ has almost 9 million subscribers. Lauren is born on August 11, 1993, in St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada. Since 2016, she lives in Los Angeles, California.

Biography

Lauren is born and raised in St. Catharines in Canada, to Gail and Grey Riihimaki. They are of Finnish, Ukrainian and Japanese descents. As a child, Lauren embraced sports. She was training basketball, volleyball, swimming, skating, and athletics, and during middle school, she earned an award of the best female athlete. Lauren also learned to play the piano and guitar.

As a student at Ryerson University in Toronto, she created her blog and began posting „Do-It-Yourself“ tutorials. In late 2011, she launched her YouTube channel named „LaurDIY“. Riihimaki became popular because of her „Do-It-Yourself“ videos, makeup and hair tutorials, cosmetics reviews, „How To..“ videos e.t.c.

In 2015, she graduated from Ryerson University with a degree in graphic communications management, and creating YouTube videos became her full-time job. She won a Shorty Award in the „House and Home“ category and a Streamy Award in the „Lifestyle“ category at the Streamy Award’s debut ceremony in 2017.

From 2016 to 2020 she appeared in TV Shows „Seven Bucks Digital Studios“, „This Is How We Never Made Out“, „Me and My Grandma“, „Boo 2! A Madea Halloween“, „Mission Unstoppable with Miranda Cosgrove“, and „Craftopia“.

Lauren is also popular on other social networks. She has 5.1 million followers on Instagram, 390K on Facebook and 5.9 million followers on Twitter. The Forbes magazine called her „The Millennial Martha Steward“.

From 2015 to 2018 she dated Alex Burriss, better known as Alex Wassabi. Since 2019, she is in a relationship with Jeremy Lewis, the owner of the company Platobrand. In October 2019, a couple started living together in her LA residence.

She is 5 ft 4 in (162 cm) tall and weighs 121 lbs (55 kg).
