Biography
Samuel (Sam) Zien also known as “Sam The Cooking Guy” is a Canadian/American TV producer and a YouTuber. He was born on August 7th, 1959 in Canada. Currently he lives in San Diego, California, USA.
Until 2001 Sam had day job in pharmaceutical company. Eventually he decided to drop everything and chase career in television. In the beginning his plan was to simplify travel show, but after dropping that idea he decided to simplify cooking. As he was not chef, neither did he had background in cooking he figured this is the perfect match, because in that time existing TV shows were intimidating and sounded too technical for the average viewer.
He recorded his demo tape and sent it to TV houses and few industry experts, but all declined his idea. Sam then sent the tape to some of the local TV stations in San Diego and finally got positive answer, so his show began to be regularly aired two times per week in San Diego.
Eventually show overgrew local channels and went national with Discovery Health channel. That happened in 2011.
Somewhere around that time, he began live streaming his show on the Internet, three times per week. Eventually Sam transitioned his show to a YouTube channel under name “Sam The Cooking Guy” and the channel become instant success amassing thousand of subscribers and million of views. Currently his channel has 1.020.000 subscribers.
