Biography

Emma Smith also known as WhispersRed ASMR is an English ASMR artist and a YouTuber. Emma was born in Lancaster, England on December 28, 1978. She lives in London with her husband and two children.

She started creating “Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response” videos long time before ASMR become a thing. She is 6 years on the scene and is considered as one of the best ASMR artists today. Her main inspiration was “GentleWhispering” back in 2012, after which she founded community ASMR UK.

In the beginning she was very insecure about starting her own YouTube channel, but she eventually did. Curiosity is, that she started her channel having just some old tablet for both recording and filiming. Beside main channel she maintains YouTube channel for kids “WhispersRed Sleepy Children”.

Eventually she become enormously popular. She reached over 790k subscribers on YouTube and was featured everywhere on Internet and famous news portals such as BBC, ABC News, Al Jazeera, Lonely Planet, Zeit Online, SkyNews, The Times, Daily Mail, The Mirror, Gizmodo and many, many others.

She was criticized by some people for promotion of Reiki (pseudo-science) and ASRM experiences, as substances that have healing properties.

Equipment

WhispersRed has massive amount of equipment, most likely more than any other ASMR artist mentioned on our site. She has small improvised studio in her garden shed. Some of the gear she uses is quite rare to see with ASMR artists (examples are Aston mics and Neuman binaural head).

Microphones

Emma mainly uses two Aston Origin microphones connected to a Scarlett 2i2 audio interface. Sometimes instead of Aston mics she uses 2x Rode NT1 microphones.

WhispersRed definitely own three binaural microphones: 3Dio FS Pro II, 3Dio FS XLR and Master Series in-ear mics.

She also has one Blue Yeti microphone, one Zoom H4n mic/recorder and one ZOOM H6 microphone and recorder.

In a couple of videos, we can see that she uses uber expensive Neumann KU100 binaural head. It is unknown did she rented that one or she owns one.

Camera

It is unknown which camera she used for older videos. For more recent clips she used Canon EOS 750D DSLR.

Microphone Stands and Tripods

WhispersRed uses couple of cheap Tiger Microphone Stands for Rode NT1s, while Aston Origins are mounted on the Aston Rycote Universal Studio Mounts.

She also uses three tripods for cameras, binaural mics and somtime recorders. We couldn’t find brand and model of one tripod, the remaining two are Neewer Portable tripod/monopod and Joby GorillaPod Focus tripod.

Lights

On her site she said that her stage is lighted with two Neewer 700w soft boxes and one Neewer CN 160 key light. However, in one of her behind the scene videos, two PhotoSEL SBSR6X9 softboxes are visible.

PC and Software

It is unknown what PC and what software for editing Emma uses.

Income and Net Worth

Her net worth is unknown, but we estimate that she earns around $6k each month from YouTube. SocialBlade site also agrees with our estimation. They guess that Whispers Red gets somewhere between $1.6K and $25.9K monthly.
